18-year old Tristan Kimes of Jackson, Mississippi, gave his loaded gun to a nine-year old to play with, perhaps unaware that it was loaded. Minutes later, the 9-year old shot and killed another 9-year old child — elementary school student, Lily Bracey. Kimes is charged with tampering with evidence, possession of a stolen firearm, contributing to the neglect or delinquency of a child, and felonious abuse and battery of a child.
“When things like that happen to children, my heart just goes out to them,” said a neighbor, who said Bracey was like one of his own grandchildren. “The reason I treated her that way was because [of] the respect she had.”
