In Little Rock, Arkansas, Raniyah Basir, a one-year old child, died of a gunshot wound today.  Although details are murky, it appears that the child found a gun belonging to her father and shot herself while unattended. Raniyah’s mother, Keiundrea Davis, was arrested and charged with manslaughter.  Her father, Rahim Basir, who was apparently not home at the time of the incident, was also arrested and charged with various gun crimes.

“This is a very difficult deal,” a police sergeant said. “It’s difficult to see family members showing up knowing a child’s been hurt.”
