According to the Escambia County, Florida Sheriff’s Office, a local gun club patron fired the wrong type of ammunition for his weapon and it ricocheted back off a steel target. The man was struck in the arm, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

According to the gun club “[t]he injury sustained by a club member was the result of unpredictable splatter from the use of a steel target. The Escambia River Gun Club conducted an internal investigation and found that the target equipment was operating as intended at an appropriate distance and that the member was operating under safe conditions.”
