Maria Nealy, age 34, of San Antonio, Texas, was sitting on a bed in her apartment playing with a gun according to witnesses, when the weapon discharged.  The round passed through a wall and struck and killed April Longoria, age 33, in the next room.  Longoria reportedly said “that hurt” before “bleeding out from her wound.” Nealy, who left the scene, was later arrested and charged with murder.

Also today, in Casselberry, Florida, an 18-year old teenager unintentionally shot and killed his 17-year old friend, Isaiah Santiago, today. Paramedics offered trauma care, but “tragically, [the boy] succumbed to his injuries.” Details are scare other than that the shooter left the scene and is speaking to counsel before talking to police.  “He just told me that he had accidentally killed his friend. And he’s panicking. And I said call 911 now. He said no, I can’t. I said call 911 now. And then he hung up on me. And so I’m calling 911,” the boy’s mother told the emergency dispatcher.
