In North Charleston, South Carolina today, Micah Simmons, a 13-year old, was fatally shot when another child tried to grab a loaded gun from him.  Micah died at the hospital.  Police say that no charges are likely to be filed and there is no reporting on why Micah had the gun in the first instance.

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, an 11-year old girl was shot in shoulder by a 15-year old handling a gun inside her home. The 15-year old and the girl’s mother have both been taken into custody. The girl is in stable condition at the hospital.

In Orlando, Florida, a 17-year old girl suffered non-life threatening injuries when she was shot by a relative who mishandled a gun inside their home. There is an ongoing investigation.

In St. Louis, Missouri, a six-year old child “got ahold” of a loaded gun and shot himself in the leg.  Police are investigating and expect to arrest the person who left the gun unattended.

And in Dothan, Alabama, a three-year old child was treated at the hospital for a wound to a  lower extremity. “It was determined the child climbed into the lap of an adult male who had a pistol in his pocket and the child accidentally hit the trigger causing the gun to fire.”
