Trent Byerly, a Des Allemands, Louisiana 19-year old, was handling a gun inside a car when it accidentally fired. The round struck him in the chest and killed him. Two of his co-passengers were arrested for obstruction of justice.

An eight-year old Chicago, Illinois girl was accidentally shot by a 12-year old neighbor in her backyard with a gun that the neighbor had told her was “not real.”  The eight-year old was taken to the hospital in good condition with a bullet wound to the thigh.  Police are investigating because the gun has not been found.

A four-year old Louisville, Kentucky girl was shot with a gun that police say was “not secured.”  It is unclear if the girl shot herself.  However, she is expected to survive.

Finally, a 40-year old Columbus, Ohio woman was struck in the arm while sitting at a table inside her home by a bullet that was fired outside. Apparently, there was a gunfight on the street and two bullets passed into the home.
