In Statesville, North Carolina, a man in his late seventies accidentally shot and killed an elderly friend who had brought a gun to his home.  “It looks like it could possibly be an accidental shooting,” a police Captain said. “The suspect and the victim knew each other very well and possibly were looking at guns, and one accidentally went off.”  The man who fired the gun was himself hospitalized after the incident.

In Cleveland, Ohio, a 101-year old woman was injured by a round accidentally fired in an upstairs unit of her building.  “The bullet, it hit her but it went through her arm, so they did find fragments in the chair,” her grandson said.   She is expected to survive after a blood transfusion and surgery. Police arrested a man that night who is under investigation for improper discharge of a firearm, negligent assault and child endangering.
