In Randolph County, North Carolina, a an 8-year old boy was struck in the head by a round fired from a 9 millimeter gun. According to the report, the boy and his grandfather were returning from turkey hunting and had placed their guns in the bed of a pick-up. One of the guns fired and the boy was struck. He was taken to two different hospitals and is said to be recovering.
The incident described seems consistent with a gun defect since there is no report of a trigger pull. No charges have been filed.
