The unintended consequences of gun violence were felt across the country on Sunday, including incidents on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, three incidents in Chicago and single incidents in Georgia and Maryland.

In New Orleans, Louisiana, Charles Hudson, a bar employee, was shot and killed in the Cat’s Meow, a crowded Bourbon Street karaoke bar, when a drunk woman accidentally fired a shot from outside the bar. Daphney Jackson was arrested and charged with manslaughter and other crimes.

In Chicago, Illinois, a 13-year old boy in a restaurant accidentally fired a gun, shooting himself in the leg.  He is in fair condition at the hospital. According to the report, no gun was found at the scene.  In the two other Chicago incidents, a 26-year old accidentally fired a handgun and shot himself in the hand. Another man, age 35, also accidentally pulled the trigger on a handgun and shot himself in the leg.  The latter two men also spent time at the hospital, but are expected to survive.  

In Warner Robins, Georgia, Javon Russell, age 18, was handling a gun while smoking marijuana with some friends and accidentally shot his 13-year old brother. The boy is facing multiple surgeries.  Russell was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

In Cambridge, Maryland, a seven-year old boy was shot in the head.  He was an innocent bystander when 16-year old Marquise Williams shot at another 16-year old in the street.  The seven-year old was flown to John Hopkins hospital for surgery.  Williams was charged with two counts of assault and other crimes.
