A 48-year old woman was shot while sleeping on a couch in a Nashville, Tennessee apartment near Music Row. Jonerica Johnson, age 28, had fired her gun in the air after being told to leave a bar across the street. Johnson was taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, disorderly contact, public intoxication, and possession of a handgun while under the influence. The injured woman was treated and released.
According to the report, Nashville police have taken many steps to make the area near Music Row safer. Those steps, of course, do not include limiting public carry of guns. Such restrictions would be difficult or impossible in light of permissive Tennessee gun laws.
