A familiar story from Port Arthur, Texas today where a juvenile had access to a gun.  He was playing with that gun in a group of kids when it fired and struck Jordan Reed, aged 18.  Reed was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Despite an ongoing investigation, police released the juvenile who fired the gun to his parents.  The report notes that “the city’s fourth homicide of 2022 appears to be an accidental killing.”  Remarkably, Port Arthur has a population of just 55,000.
