In Columbus, Georgia, a three-year old was shot and killed under circumstances that have not been described, but which authorities say are likely to be ruled accidental. No follow-up news stories appeared in the first five days following the incident.
In Chicago, Illinois, a security guard who had been shot in the leg in a gun violence incident then fired more than 20 shots at the suspect as he fled. The suspect was neither struck or apprehended. Rather, Bobbye Johnson, a 55-year old woman, was shot in the chest and killed though she was four blocks away. The guard, Vincent Brown, faces potential homicide charges in connection with the incident. Johnson’s family said that she “loved God, loved church, [and] loved her grandkids.”
