In Columbia, South Carolina, a woman with a gun in her pocketbook or in her pocket accidentally shot herself while shopping at a local mall.  Other shoppers heard a loud bang and rushed from the premises.  The woman’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, but her precise condition is unknown.  Police are investigating whether she was legally allowed to own the weapon under South Carolina law.
