A sixth grader and a 71-year old were killed today in separate hunting accidents. Both were shot by relatives.
Daisy Grace Lynn George, age 11, was shot by her father in Hallsville, Texas while he was hunting with a high-powered rifle. Rescuers arrived on the scene, but rescue helicopters were grounded due to poor weather. Daisy was rushed to the hospital in Longview, Texas where she died. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends during this difficult time,” the local sheriff said. Daisy’s middle school is coordinating grief counselors for her schoolmates.
William Tripp of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania was hunting with family members along a local gas line. A minor relative shot and killed him while aiming at a deer. The bullet struck Tripp who was 300 yards away. The local coroner called the accident “heart-wrenching.”
