In Minneapolis, Minnesota, Autumn Merrick, age 18, was killed when a shoot-out between people in two moving vehicles resulted in a fiery crash on a local sidewalk. Merrick, an innocent bystander, was riding a scooter on the sidewalk where the crash occurred. Her death was ruled a homicide, but no arrests have been made.
“It is my understanding that the female on the scooter was doing exactly that, she was out on a scooter riding down the sidewalk and she was an innocent bystander of what appears to be a violent exchange between cars,” a police spokesperson said. “To that degree, I can tell you that this kind of death, it affects our officers. It’s upsetting to see this kind of violence result in this kind of death.”
“She didn’t deserve this,” a friend said. “She was a light everywhere she went. That was my sister.”
