For the third day in a row, a baby was shot when an adult mishandled a gun.  In this instance, a one year old Winston-Salem, North Carolina girl was shot in the hand by one of her parents.  She was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Also today, Shawn Santiago, a 39-year old, was in the subway station at Times Square in New York City when a gun he was carrying in his waistband went off.  Not surprisingly,  chaos ensued as police attempted to determine the source of the gunfire.  Santiago originally told police that he was struck by a round fired by someone else, before admitting the accidental nature of the incident.  Although Santiago is expected to be OK, he is likely to face charges.
