In Casa Grande, Arizona,a five-year old boy who found a loaded handgun in his apartment, accidentally shot and killed his mother, Michele Cox, today.  Ms. Cox’s three other children and her boyfriend were home at the time of the incident.

After the fact, a police department statement reminded the public in a generic way about the importance of gun safety.  “This is a stark reminder that owning and safeguarding a firearm is a serious responsibility and should be a priority in anyone’s home or business, especially if children are present,” said police.
