In Guadalupe, California, police are investigating an officer involved shooting that caused an unintended death. According to the report, an officer fired his gun while attempting to make a street arrest in connection with a felony warrant. The round did not strike the suspect, but rather struck and killed a bystander, Juan Luis Olvera-Preciado, age 59, who was sitting in a nearby vehicle.
The name of the officer involved in the shooting was not reported. The police chief met with the family of the victim to offer his condolences and to coordinate support services.
