Ken Thomas of Wichita, Kansas was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery after what appears to be a property-defense situation gone awry.
Two teenagers were apparently trespassing at TreatCo, a pet treat factory that had been shuttered at some point in the past. Thomas, the business’s owner, fired a shotgun toward them, apparently to warn them away. Both teenagers were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries when they were struck with shotgun pellets.
It is unclear why Thomas did not simply call police.
