A nine-year old and an eight-year old were killed in gun accidents today.

The nine-year old shot herself with a weapon found in her Detroit, Michigan home. Two other children 10 and under were home at the time of the incident. However, no adults were present. 

“We are seeing this too often, please put your weapons up,” a Detroit police captain said. “You cannot leave babies home alone by themselves and leave weapons that are laying around.”

The eight-year old was accidentally shot by a family friend in his Concord, North Carolina home.  According to a report, the shooter’s gun “accidentally discharged” inside the home.  The shooter is cooperating with police.
